Daily Recap: April 6, 2009
Well, I guess it’s time for me to get a life.
In case you missed out, here are some of the more interesting developments in gaming today:
Brütal Legend was the subject of last week’s 1UP.com cover story, and it features a wonderful interview with Tim Schafer, the game’s creator and mastermind behind games like Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango(my personal favorite game of all time) and Psychonauts. One of the most clever and engaging minds in game development, Schafer’s commentary is not to be missed.
Rock Band 2 Lead Designer Dan Teasdale gave a speech at the 2009 Game Developers Conference on designing high-quality games on a short schedule, and his lecture slides are available for download on his design blog. I’ve met Dan a few times; he’s an amicable guy who cares a lot about his games, and his slides are an entertaining read. On page 43 you can spot MC Destructo hogging the spotlight at Portland’s own Ground Kontrol, home of the best weekly Rock Band nights ever, apparently!
Assassin’s Creed 2 has a new teaser site, courtesy of Ubisoft UK. Details are enticingly scarce, but the site itself seems to have some fun tricks in store for anyone with a webcam. Not to spoil any surprises, but it’s pretty incredible what people can do with Flash these days…
